I had my FP done at San Jose ASC and It took us around 15 min for the entire process of filling the forms,waiting to be called for FP and doing the actual FP.
The lady asked me to sign on an electronic pad(some people reported that they were asked to write their full name and sign at the bottom) which I did and she gave us some feedback forms to fill out and drop in the suggestion box.
It was easy for me to locate the ASC because i used to commute by Charcot drive to take 87 on my way back home from my old office :)
A friend of mine went without the receipt. Only his wife had the receipt. They printed his receipt right there... Even tho his appnt was a week later they did his FP the same day... he had no problems with the security guard... I guess its just ur luck!

For e-filed I131 this is all you need to mail:
Confirmation receipt which you got after submitting the application
copy of i485 Receipt notice
2 recent color photos
a copy of any govt issued identity document (visa , pp biographic page, ead card, etc)
current i94 copy

All State is saying is that they are giving EB2-India a total of 2987 visas. They didn't care about spill over and slow consumption by ROW. They are still acting stupid but this time they are trying to show reasoning for their stupidity. If this report had a consumption of visas till date for FY10 like in a dash board, then they would have seen their own stupidity clearly.
I think you are making too much out of it. All they have said is 2987 per country. Below they do mention it flows from E1 to E2 to E3. Do you seriously think that they are going to say exactly how much the spill over is?

H1B and Employment based GC is for people in speciality fields and for the shortage of US workers for the jobs.
It is not possible for any jobs on commission basis. PERIOD.
You can work on OPT.

She need to have AP in hand before leaving the country. I would suggest to take an INFOPASS and go the local office tell them the situation, they should be able to give you the AP there.

Nuke bill was an agreement between two nations - India and USA - hence Indian govt had a legtimate interest to lobby for it. Lobbying to change the immigration laws of a sovereign nation by a foreign govt is another cup of tea altogether, and will definitely give a bad name to our cause. You have seen what happened when Vincente Fox lobbied for CIR: even americans who were otherwise sympathetic to CIR were hostile to the idea of a foreign head of state telling them what to do with their immigration laws, and quite understandably so. This is a dead horse anyways - what is the point of flogging it further ?

H1's from A and B are not related and having multiple H1's is valid.
However in your case, once the H1 from company A starts your OPT / EAD status will no longer be valid. For filing a H1 with company B now, you are fine with OPT status and you may get an approval for start date B with company B based on today's status of OPT.
I am under the impression that company B is not aware of H1 filing with company A.
So if H1 from company A is already approved and ready to start date A in Jan , then that is the day your OPT will end. If H1 from B is approved before start date A , but start date B is beyond A's start date then you will have to be with company A during that period ( i.e gap between start date A & start date B).
Or else down the line if you are asked to prove status between start date A & B, for that time you need something to show.

If this is the case your OPT should be intact, just make sure your status does not change on start date A with Sevis.
If A is not willing to cancel or you need to ask them to cancel then ....

c) Ask B to advance start date to match with A so it takes control of your OPT before A ends it.
I can understand your situation, when someone is coming out of school and has multiple options. Where a single one of them is not a cut above the rest, for a clean decision, or a good one comes later. The best is to stay with opt until you are comfortable and like the work, but however due to time pressure, quota exhaustion and persuasion from the companies people end up applying for H1 too soon locking themselves into a corner.
PS: I am not a lawyer, it is better to consult a lawyer / your school student adviser for your options.

I don't have a machine with VS / Blend installed right now, but the reason it isn't working is because you need to actually get a reference to your existing XmlDataProvider and then update it from there. This is almost identical to the Modifying a Databound Collection case: http://www.kirupa.com/blend_wpf/modifying_databound_collection_pg1.htm
Looking at your code, you would need to something similar to the following.
XmlDataProvider existing = Window.Resources["MetadataDS"] as XmlDataProvider;
existing.Source = new Uri(filename);
I am writing the above without the use of VS, so there is a chance it might not work. Let me know if it fails and I can look into it further :)

Just don't even spend your time on this or any message board. Come to US ASAP and file before 17th August. You can add your wife later.
retrogression!... if dates does not move and your wife were not able to file 485 before they approve your AOS... she will be out of status the day your 485 gets approved if she were to stay in dependent status (H4).. she has 180 days from the date of your approval to file hers.. if that doesn;t happen.. then she will have to leave the country to avoid problems..
I would say file it together.. thats the best..

I applied for extension last june for my initial h1b which was expiring Sep 30, 2008... technically speaking, the extension is still pending.... but I applied for h1 transfer in Dec and after answering a couple of RFEs and applying for premium in March, I finally got it approved last week.
The sad part is they approved it without an I-94 (as consular process), as my I-94 was expired when I applied for transfer... the original extension was applied 4 months before I-94 expired, but since it is still pending, they said they can only approve the transfer as consular process. I couldn't get time off from work now, and I really didn't want to rush to india just for stamping, so I decided to stay here and work on EAD. I hope to get it stamped, when I go to india maybe next year.

I found an article that explains the 180 day rule a little better. I believe it is called section 245(k). You should definitely get advice through an experienced attorney to make sure.

I was proposing for combination. Not 100% UL. Only an agent can find a sweet spot of this combination. Instead if 100% term (ex. $35/mo for 30 years = $12,600). How about 20% UL and 80% term? In this case probably you will get 2 or 3K back (which is not bad instead of loosing entire amount). I was not suggesting Life Insurance as investment, sorry for not being clear. I met with my agent 3 times discussed all options and it worked out well for me.

With an EAD in hand and with the Market there could be a bigger and better opportunity. Keep up the high spirits
But I have a lot to be thankful for. Thanks to IV, he has his EAD and can have one less thing to worry about in his new job search.
