On October 2, 2009, The U.S. State Department launched the 2011 Diversity Visa Program. Between October 2 to November 30, 2009, applicants from countries around the world may register for a chance at winning one of the 55,000 immigrant visas that are drawn randomly from all eligible applicants. The State Department will notify all successful applicants between May - July 2010 of their selection. Applicants will then be able to start the visa application process in October 2010.

Hello all,
I have my EAD and waiting on my 485 to get approved sometime this year (hopefully).
I'm obvoiusly working full-time for my current employer and I just got an opportunity to do some translation services (teaching) after hours for about 80hrs in the next couple of months.
Is it ok for me to teach or do the rules of H1B (work up to 40hrs a week) still apply?

Hi,
I have applied for I-140,I-485 and I-765 on 16th of Aug'07,dint get the receipt yet. I would be leaving to India this month and would return only in Feb'08.
My major concerns are:
1. once I get the notice for FingerPrints, can I reschedule it to Feb'08.
Is it advisable.
OR
2. Do I have an option of getting my FingerPrint done at any consulate in India.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have moved to san jose using AC21 last year but still have the address of my aunt in los angeles as they own a house , so that i do not have to go thru address change hassle, it is okay or do i have to provide my address

It is always better to maintain the H along with the EAD/AP. If you apply for PP, you will get the approval within 15 days and include the 539 petition for yourself along with the H-1 petition.

I am totally lost on what to do.
I read in the other post that if PD become current in the bulleting then Iwill be in trouble if I have not filed for spouse. I am lost with this !!

Indeed. 140s are getting a lot of RFEs nowadays and are once again taking nearly a year. It is a brave soul that will avail themselves of the AC21 180 portability provision without an approved 140 petition.
The main points are the following, if you get an RFE and it has anything to do with your employer eg. ability to pay etc, can you count on them to send in that paperwork. If your employer withdraws the 140 application then you are left without a plank to stand on for your 485 as well.
Basically you are on very thin ice if you invoke AC21 absent an approved 140. If you are contemplating such a move, you should atleast consider doing it on a H1b visa as back up.
These are my views, please consult an attorney.

I am a little concerned of H1 stamping being a problem because my case is complicated ,for the years June 2005- June 2006 i dont have a H1 approval from USCIS for the 6th year, This was because the case was stuck in a security check .

Please remember, we do have some members from antiimmigrant groups like numberUSA, who have created similar siyuations in the past.
Financial contribution is no doubt VITAL for our cause but we will never, I repeat never encourage any IV member to spoil their financial security to contribute towards IV. Please do not feel bad if you can not contribute ( we only feel let down by the people, who can contribute but do not do so)

Ivan is a doctor from Mexico. He did his resiidency at Mainmonaides in New York and now works as an attending physician at Cleveland Clinic. What annoys me, is that the consulate delays the visa stamping and also keeps the passport. Seems to me that they deliberately keep the passport so that the candidate doesnt travel back on the AP. I was in similar situation in March 08 at the Mumbai consulate, after waiting for around 45 days I travelled back on the AP(back then they had not taken my passport)

Dear Friends,
I have changed my employer after 180 days of my pending I-485. I have not communicated USCIS about this. I was able to renew my EAD, and AP online with proper documentation without any issues.
I am planning to travel to India on Advance Parole now. Wondering if I can show my former employer's documentation such as I-485, I-140 approvals if anything arises while going or returning. Do you anticipate any issues with this? or do I need to carry any information about current employer, and my Job?. Appreciate your help.

I think he has to give some BDS exam first to get a scroe and then using that he should be able to apply to various colleges. The course fees is about $200,000 . So if you can get admission somewhere and can pay the fees then he can be minting money soon:D
